Junior Sailing Program 2008 - Starts June 24!

The Junior Program this year will be made up of basic sailing, racing and advanced sailing.

Basic sailing will involve learning to rig and sail an 8 foot Optimist sailboat or a Laser, basic knot tying, boat handling, sailing etiquette, sailing terminology and basic rules of racing.

Advanced sailing is for students who have been through the basic sailing class and are ready for advanced racing techniques. They will learn how to read the wind, roll tack, choose the right side of the race course and lots of practice starts.

Students in the Junior Sailing Program must be at least 8 years old on the first day of class.

Basic Sailing is every Tuesday and every other Friday except July 4.

June 24, July 1, July 8, July 15, July 11, July 22, July 25, July 29, August 5, August 8.

Time: 8:30 am – 11:30 am

Advanced Sailing is every Thursday and evey other Friday.

June 26, June 27, July 3, July 10, July 17, July 18, July 24, July 31, August 1, August 7

Time: 8:30 am – 11:30 am

The Junior Sailing Regatta will be held Saturday, Aug. 16. All junior sailors will be welcome. Please put this date on your calendar. Details will be announced later.
